We're all still in the full swing of summer, but what do we do when the mid to end of summer sales begin, and we feel guilty about investing in more summer staples? Shouldn't we be looking forward to fall and winter's upcoming fashions? Of course, that is half the fun of seasonal change! However, there is no need when the leaves begin to change to pack in your tank tops, shorts and summer scarves. They can still be incorporated easily into your fall and winter wardrobe, and we're here to tell you how!
Tank tops-- these tops which are so essential in the summer are also perfect for fall layering and for wearing under winter blazers. Invest in a basic black blazer, and you can wear it over nearly all of your bright summer tank tops! In addition, it is a good idea to wear them under your light fall sweaters for those Indian summer days when the sun can still be particularly intense.
Shorts/skirts-- don't put your shorts away! The return of the age of tights has made it possible to take shorts all the way into winter. Keep your most basic shorts and invest in a variety of tights to make your shorts more exciting. H&M, Forever 21, and (for those with a little extra coinage in their piggy banks) Wolford. Another trend this summer is to wear boots with your shorts; no reason why that trend can't continue into fall.
Summer scarves-- you can wear your thinner, summer scarves all year long, but one way to create interest in your run of the mill long sleeve T-shirts and crew neck sweaters, drape your scarf like an upside down "U" around the back of your neck, and add a belt around your natural waist, so that the scarf looks like a vest.
